Farm Life

Day in the life

Most of the people will be picking or doing husbandry work, but we also have runners, supervisors and checkers. Workers are given the information about when and where they are going to be working in advance, so everyone knows where they are working tomorrow and what they are going to do. Some of the people who live close to the field can walk if they’re able to. If the journey is longer, we get minibuses to take them to the field.

There are lots of jobs, not just picking the fruit and tidying the plants. Workers also prepare all the trays and all the pallets. Everyone knows who is on their team and which row they’re working on. We make sure the rows change so that it’s fair for everyone.

Everyone has a break, can relax, recharge and then continue the work. When pickers finish, we get them back to the caravans and they can enjoy their free time, chill out, spend time with families.

Also, if anyone feels unwell or needs GP appointment, they can ask us for help. We can help to register at the local doctor’s surgery. If workers don’t feel well and they can’t work, they must tell us in advance.

Accommodation

We are able to offer self contained mobile home accommodation for employees. Campsite also has shared laundry, freezer rooms and luggage storage space.
